Automotive injection molding at Chen Hsong covers bumpers, door panels, interior trims, lamp lenses, radiator tanks and under-bonnet components. BYD and FAW Group are among the manufacturers running Chen Hsong machines, with exterior body parts typically calling for 550 to 6,500 tonnes of clamping force.
A bumper mold is large, heavy and deep. Two-platen machines carry it in a shorter footprint than a toggle machine of equal force, spread clamping load evenly across the platen face, and give the daylight that deep draws need. Chen Hsong has more than 1,000 two-platen units in service worldwide. Lamp assemblies are a different problem again: a clear lens and a coloured housing molded in one cycle on multi-material machines, where rotary platen positioning accuracy decides whether the bond line comes out clean or bleeds.
